Hello,
I bought a pre-wired SSS kit featuring Obsidian vintage-style electronics and Lollar Blonde pickups. What can I say? It completely transforms my Fender Player Ltd Chambered. What a sound! The assembly by the Obsidian team is simply fantastic; it’s clear they really know their stuff. As for delivery, it was fast, and the package was perfectly packed. I highly recommend buying from them (it’s great that they now ship to France). Plus, if you have a question, they are always there to offer advice.
Thanks a Lot !

What an incredible upgrade! I could not be more pleased

What an incredible upgrade! I could not be more pleased. The install was so simple as long as you take your time, no problem. The tone is absolutely awesome. I cannot believe I didn’t know about you sooner, but I am so thankful that I found you and took a shot to try your products - could not be happier. Caitlin, you’re the best! thank you for getting everything all sorted for me. Look forward to dealing with you guys again. R Bogusky

Nice Upgrade

One pickup, one volume push/pull, one tone set up for a much needed upgrade for a little gold top Traveler Guitar. Went great. A violin peg head reamer made quick work of enlarging the holes to accommodate the standard size pots. So much easier than soldering. Sounds much better even with the stock humbucker and now easy to pickup swap with much less effort. Looking forward to trying out a few.

Obsidian Strat Kit

Yesterday I completed my "Albert Cummings" Strat project where I mounted Seymour Duncan Antiquity Tele "Neck" p/u, Texas Hot "Middle" p/u. and Pearly Gates "bridge" p/u into a custom pickguard using the Obsidian "7 way" system. The Obsidian system simplified the task greatly and worked correctly right out of the chute. Highly recommend looking at the website info instead of just the installation sheet, especially if you are not familiar with the terminology. I would HIGHLY recommend this system to anyone building a new start pickguard.

Excellent service! Excellent product! We are launching a new guitar brand of modern precision

Excellent service! Excellent product!
We are launching a new guitar brand of modern precision engineered guitars at VRC Guitars and Obsidian Wire controls are the clear choice. PCB instead of a rats nest of wires, no solder joints on top of pots to break, tuned coil splits...
This is how guitar controls should be made. Thanks for getting the initial inventory to me so quickly. Looking forward to sharing build details soon.

A company that have great customer care

I had a problem with the strat kit that I bought and reached out to the local suppliers for help without success! However when I contacted Osbianwire I got a real answer from a real person offering guidance . Not what normally happens these days. The products are excellent and the backup remarkable.

Hot rodded Strat

The HH harness with coil splitting went well in my MIM Strat with 2 Seymour Duncans. What a boost!

Amazing especially for beginners

I bought this for my classic vibe Strat (you’ll need a bigger pick guard) but this thing was so easy to put together. I think it took me about 30 minutes total to install not counting taking the original Pick guard and wires out. Very clear instructions as well. They even give you a little measurement thing on the instructions to see how big you need your wire to be. 10/10 recommendation. Going to be using this for all guitar mods in the future

Couldn’t be happier

Such fast service! Brilliant tracking on order. Received in Australia in four days.
Professionally packed. Easy to follow instructions.
The John Mayer loaded pick guard has turned my much loved Mexican Strat into an absolute beast. This will now be my #1 gigging guitar. I will be back for more.
Thank You

Not quite as straightforward as described

I purchased a Dave Gilmore 7 way switch version, for a 1992 American Standard Stratocaster. Tracking seemed to show that it was at a US airport for quite a long time on its way to the UK, and although I emailed Obsidan a few times for reassurance, nothing was forthcoming, and I felt that the customer service which is boasted about in advertisements was sadly lacking. I was never contacted to ask if I was happy with my purchase or to post a review, which is surprising in view f the fact that was quite a high cost item.

The instructions were not particularly helpful and a detailed video showing a step by step would have welcome. As it was, I had to watch a number of different 3rd party YouTube videos in order to complete installation. The three ground wires on the American Strat are soldered directly to one of the pots, and are far too short to cut and fit in the connector strip. It was therefore necessary to desolder these wires, and add 3” wire extensions before they could be connected to the connection block. This certainly added to the installation time, and I could not see any reference to this possible problem in any of the documentation supplied in the box. It seems unlikely that no one has ever trying to fit the unit to an American Standard , so I don’t know why this problem was not mentioned.

Having said this, the installation was successful and added extra dimensions to the Stratocaster sound

Utter Rubbish

Bought a LP Vintage MKII SC harness for one of my Gibson Les Pauls as I wanted to experiment with 50's vs. 60's with treble bleed wiring. What does it sound like? No idea. The grey terminal block is the cheapest, most poorly designed, and fragile piece of electrical rubbish I have ever had the misfortune of touching in 20 years of electrical work. After following the guide dilingently (bare wire length, angle of insertion, etc., etc.) it took 3 hours just to get the wires into it after trying tinned (supplied with the kit but too big to go in the terminals) and bare twisted ends to then discover at least 1 bad connection as no signal in any configuration. I'm not going through anymore hell with that appalling connector so the whole harness has gone in the bin. What a waste of a substantial amount of money. If you are buying because you have limited or no solding experience, forget it, soldering with any level of skill is far easier.

Value, workmanship and ease of installation

I .am gong to make this brief. I am left hand but it is possible to install one in a left handed Stratocaster. All you need is a pickguard with no control holes an d the ability to make a template. The company has no liability with this install but it is possible. I love this product and I had to have one for myself. It does not matter if it is a universal cavity or not.

Wireless kits

Personally I think these kits are fantastic, I haven’t had a single problem with them at all, I do actually have 4 of them!
I did have to do abit of modding to the guitars for them to fit which I had no issues with! All of them sound great.
I have the Les Paul coil split kit, the 7 way Gilmour strat kit, the 5 way strat and the Humber coil split one!
I’d recommend them to anyone that doesn’t know or struggles with soldering (like myself).

Decent

Decent wiring harness. Components appear high quality and the sound is good. Spacing on the potentiometers was off for the control plate of my tele. Typically, a harness doesn’t have a fixed distance between pots, so this harness is only going to fit if your control plate has the pots at the exact same distance as the harness. Otherwise, you get upsold on their plate. Not a huge issue. I was able to modify my control plate. But if you’re gonna charge $100 for a wiring harness, the solution ought to be built into the product without extra cost. Furthermore, the actual wire terminal device is a bit goofy. Screw down terminals would hold wires in place far more securely and be a more robust design. A plastic depression tab could get damaged as their own instructions indicate. The actual connect isn’t the strongest either. There shouldn’t be forces on the wires once install is complete, but I did notice that very little force is needed to pull the wires out. Pic is attached to the review demonstrating the issue with potentiometer spacing. Overall, it’s a good quality wiring harness with some really good ideas that are executed a bit poorly and could use some redesign.

An absolute breeze to install, and superb sound quality. I will never punish my guitars with my crappy soldering again. Customer service is outstanding.

Horrible customer service

Bought a strat kit that was guaranteed to fit a usa strat but didn’t so I had to modify my extremely expensive guitar to get this junk wiring kit in.
After installing I find out that there is a major grounding issue as well as all three of my pots being so loose and easy to turn that a slight breeze could turn my volume down. I reached out to the company and was told that the pots are “low torque” and my grounding issue must be coming from somewhere else, when I responded with absolute proof that the cavity and guitar was grounded correctly and I sent video of the pots showing how loose they were I got left on read and haven’t had a response. I want a refund or a replacement kit!
I was going to order more kits but forget that, absolute waste of money, extremely overpriced and horrendous customer service.

2005 American Deluxe Nashville Tele S/S/S

When I first installed the switch the guitar sounded horrible and then I realized the middle noiseless Strat pickup is reverse wired, Reversed the wires and WOW! I have owned this guitar since new and love it more and more, but this switch took it to another level. I wish that I had this switching setup back in my road warrior and touring days. Great clarity of tone when hybrid picking and playing riffs and fills with harmonics in combination with open strings and fretted notes. Guitar is now totally quiet and very versatile for recording gigs. The position for all 3 pickups is a truly beautiful sound. KUDOS on a great product! Thank You.
