I wasn't expecting much but I was absolutely blown away by the kit's quality and the treble bleed. It makes the Nocasters usable at all volume levels now and more importantly the neck is more usable.
Item came beautiful packaged with good instructions. The quality ofnthe wiring is outstanding.
Pick guard was easy to install and fitted perfectly on my American deluxe strat.
Tone was awsome once i set the pick up height. The band noticed that I had changed something so it wasnt just me.
When I first got this in, definitely was a bit intimidated. But with the ease of setup, information included with the Flex and some messaging between ObsidianWire staff, i was able to install it in a matter of minutes!!!
I went with the Short shaft with split coil option single volume pot. I have a 7 string that now homes this absolute versatile control!!
Definitely a must have if youre a hot rodder, or someone who is new to the world of mods. And the response times from the staff is insanely fast and absolutely friendly and helpful!! Definitely going to order another for a future project!
Excellent product was very easy to install. Solderless connection made it quick & the mounting plate fit perfectly in my Sire v5 jazz bass.
The circuit board of the harness did not fit in the control cavity of my 2021 Gibson 58RI. One side hit the edge of the cavity well before the post could clear the top, so it was basically worthless for the guitar I wanted to install it in. Also, don't plan on using for existing pickups if you they have braided wire. Even if the harness fit, that would have been an issue.
Fantastic product. I had an issue installing my first set (own fault) and the chap was very helpful.
Install was a breeze after that. Instructions are clear and the process is very easy to understand, even without electrical knowledge. Go slow, be methodical and pay attention to the instructions from OW and your pickup wiring guide and you’ll be golden.
The pots themselves have smooth, quick action. This is great for make fast adjustments on stage. PCBs are expertly soldered and wiring locations are arranged to encourage near install.
Overall, my electrics are looking extremely clean, and working as well as they possibly can.

I love these harnesses. I am a luthier, and I have purchased multiple obsidian wire harnesses for my builds. They never fail and the sound quality is top tier. If you're debating whether to get one - stop - just do it. You will not regret it.
As the literature says, easy, not fast. The first installment takes probably the same amount of time as if you were soldering in new pickups. The difference with this kit, is you’re not reliant on your soldering skill, or the risk of a dry solder joint causing issues down the track.
Add in the extra features like a dedicated tone knob for the bridge pickup, Gilmore mod if you want it, it makes getting additional tones out of your instrument so easy.
I can’t count how many of these I’ve had, and each one is just fantastic.

Excellent jack. Holds the cable very securely and was a breeze to wire into the block on the M1. Came with everything I needed to replace the old jack and seat the new one nicely with the hardware included.
One pickup, one volume push/pull, one tone set up for a much needed upgrade for a little gold top Traveler Guitar. Went great. A violin peg head reamer made quick work of enlarging the holes to accommodate the standard size pots. So much easier than soldering. Sounds much better even with the stock humbucker and now easy to pickup swap with much less effort. Looking forward to trying out a few.
I assembled an HSH partscaster.
The harness was a great upgrade for my bass and contributes to a great sound.
However, I would just point out that while installing vintage pickups with slightly thicker stranded wires, it was not very easy to insert them into the holes of the solderless adapter. I’m not entirely sure they won’t come loose. With thinner wires, there will certainly be no issue.
But despite that difficulty, it is undoubtedly a high-quality product.
All I needed to do was drill out the pick guard to 3/8" and they fit perfectly. The kit included enough extra nuts and washer to get the shafts the right height. The solderless connection system was intuitive, easy to use, and made very tight connections. I know how to solder, but this really saves time and eliminates the possibility of making costly errors. Would do do this again should I have to.
Glad I bought them, as the ones from my Squier P-Bass were too small. These slipped on perfectly and I tightened the set screws to indicate level.
Excellent product
As advertised, all I needed to do was drill out the holes in my pick guard. I used a 3/8th inch drill after placing tape over the holes to prevent tear-out. Viola! The posts fit perfectly. The extra nuts and washers were helpful and, yes, I needed the Knurled Knobs. I also replaced the OEM pickups with a Tonerider. Everything dropped into the body cavities after I convinced the wires to go where they needed to go. The wiring connector is brilliant: a perfect match for the OEM ground wires and whatever pickup you might use.
Swapped out the Gibson PCB board which adds the ability to switch between 50’s and 60’s w/ treble bleed. Both have coil split and phase. This adds series option but removes pure bypass. The LP sounds great and the install was simple. Swapping pickups is much easier than having to solder. Highly recommended!
Awesome product. Easy installation! Now get 4 usable tones. I don't mind soldering, but this is really easy. Makes me almost want to get more pickups to try.
PSA: Before you alter your pickup, make sure to test it first! Check the ohmage.
With some filing on the pickguard it fits beautifully and sounds amazing. So much more versatility and speed to install pickups in the future.
I have purchased 4 loaded harnesses for various strat and tele builds with amazing success. Mathew and his team are the BOMB. Great products with even more amazing communication and quality of service. I will continue to use Obsidian Wire as THE go-to source to build and upgrade my guitars.

This is such a quick and easy way to upgrade the wiring in your Les Paul, in my case it was an Epiphone Modern LP. I did have to enlarge the hole a bit so the Obsidianwire kit would fit, but you should expect since Epiphone uses the smaller metric size pots. I used this kit because I was installing Seymour Duncan Limited 59 PAF humbuckers and didn't want to go through the hassle of getting new pots, caps etc and then having to solder everything together. The only soldering I had to do was un-soldering the ground wire for the bridge from the OEM pot. I didn't have to solder anything installing the 2-wire humbuckers. I also love the ability of choosing between 50's and 60's wiring style. After playing the switches in different position I settled on 50's for my neck pickup and 60's bridge.
Unfortunately, really this is not a review. It’s a review mainly on the delivery. It came according to them the email two days before they said it was gonna come I’m home because I’m going through chemo. I did not get a picture of the delivery. I found out that they said it was delivered an hour two hours afterwards no picture look out there and I was no package
