It sucks....

...that i now don't know what to do with my other guitars that don't have this upgrade!

Just kidding, i love them! The overall tone, 7-way switch and included treble bleed mod are exceptional and a lot of fun! Installing was incredibly easy!

Absolutely recommend it!

Wonderful!

I got it for a G&L tribute bass. The holes were not designed for it. I just widened the holes and done. It feels and sound so much better than the stock electronics. Can’t wait to put a different pickup. It will be a breeze.

Great product!

I replaced the electronics and added a humbucker to an SSS Squire Strat. This made the process very easy! These are excellent quality too. I would buy Obsidian products again.

Incredible upgrade for my Strat

Previously, my Strat was wired with a super switch and an S1 so that it could switch between Strat switching and PRS switching. It never quite worked right. I stumbled upon this and decided to give it a shot. I took my time with the install, just to be safe. But it was easy enough to do.

Wow - the guitar sounds absolutely incredible now. So much clarity. I love the Gilmour mod; the extra tonal options are great. I can’t recommend this enough. If you’re on the fence, go for it!

For reference, the guitar is an American deluxe with DiMarzio pickups (Steve’s Special neck, Evo middle, and Breed bridge).

The best I’ve ever tried

Ease of installation aside, the range of the tone knob on my P bass now is a thing of beauty.
This is easily the best harness I’ve found and I’ve used a few.

Very pleased with The Custom Universal for Tele purchase

I'm very pleased with my Custom Universal for Tele purchase. Installation was very straight forward, though I wish the included instructions had been updated with the current shipping product. No bother though as I figured it out easily. The unit was installed in a Fender Telecaster Professional II with a TV Jones Powertron neck pickup and the original single coil bridge pickup. The results exceeded my expectations. The pot smoothness were superior to another brand of prewired solderless control harness I previously bought for another Telecaster. I'm very happy with my purchase!

Product didn't work, no customer service

Despite my best efforts and that of a very experienced guitar tech the unit would not work properly. Middle pickup would not come on (it was checked separately and is functional) in positions 2 and 3. Tried customer service and got no response. Very disappointing.

Fender Jazz Bass Kit I assembled from factory Parts

I had previously used standard components on this jazz bass but had problems.(dead pickup) I thought that the harness (circuit Board solder less install) would be better. As well as sound better, It did!! Im Happy!
I did have some problems with the wire ends from the pickups, not wanting to stay connected but using a tweezer to hold the wire in place did the job!
Very well Made! My wife said so, She is a certified solder and assembly person with over 30 years experience!
She makes things that go in airplanes.

Great product but…

I love the ease of install and the sound is great on the MKII for Les Paul (Vintage 50s & Modern 60s Wiring). However, I have contacted support because I only received a cream switch tip. I didnt see anything that determines what color you get while ordering the unit, just thought multiple colors would be included. The choice is there if buying a switch on Obsidians site but their support hasn't even contacted me yet about the issue. An all blacked out hardware guitar, with a cream switch tip, yuk.

Excellent products but !

This wiring harness is quality all the way. Fit my partscaster build perfectly and controls and sounds wonderful. The only complaint I have is the push in wiring terminals are a little finicky for instance a very small piece of wire broke off in one and it took me a bit of time to get cleared out of terminal I thought it had rendered this harness useless but my patience paid off and I was able to proceed,

A Very Forgiving Repair and Upgrade All in One

My '72 P-bass had gone silent, and in researching replacement electronics, I stumbled on Obsidian. After reading the reviews, I decided to give myself a break and not have to worry about soldering. Of course things rarely go as planned, and when I took a close look at the existing electronics, I noticed that I had two live leads coming from the pickups. I wasn't surprised as the bass had been modified by Alembic back in 1976, and at that time they replaced the original pickups with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders. After a little pondering, I decided to strip and twist the two leads together to create a single live wire. My first attempt at installing the Obsidian unit resulted in silence. Then I realized I had flipped the unit upside down, and once I got things properly oriented and reconnected, I was rewarded by the best sound the instrument had put out in years. I guess the point is that the solderless connections are very forgiving and allow for a bit of trial and error without the hassle of soldering, unsoldering and resoldering. I found the resulting sound to be much cleaner, wider in frequency response and just plain better than the old pots and wiring. I highly recommend Obsidian for sound quality, ease of installation and flexibility during the installation process. Pros and novices alike will appreciate Obsidian's features.
